Color Entry

The color scheme I might use. The focus would be black and white. The other two colors would be used moderately.
The reason is to make the banner area less distracting but still pleasing to the eye, so the reader can easily see the content of the website.

or have various different colors like on pbfcomics.

Texture Entry

I wanted to use an octopus on the sea as the banner design. And the style of many Japanese Paintings of the ocean has interested me much. The exaggeration of the crests and waves gives a nice sense of movement.

On the left hand side I would like to use an underwater effect below the octopus; where the menu buttons would be. Light gradient blue that extends from octopus to bottom.

Typography Entry

I'm most likely to use Verdana as my font.
It's easy to be read, and no distortions to distract the eye.
For my name on the banner I thought about using brushes to make it distinct from other texts.
I actually don't want to use to much text, and just mainly have graphics to help navigate. But that will probably be hard to do.

Proposal Layout

Design Summary

My goal is to create a website that is easy to get information out of, while simple designs around the content to keep the site from not being boring.

Proposal Interaction

The first picture is the possible place for the main menu bar. The second picture could be used for a sub menu bar that will be used to navigate in the gallery.

Sites with navigation and buttons, menus that inspired me:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/
http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/
http://news.google.com/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn

I like the use of small color blocks to help distinguish different categories on the left hand side menu bars from both bbc radio and google news. It's minimal and effective while not distracting the focus from the content. The style of the menu bars are kind of rigid but it is clear and easy to use.

Proposal Site Overview

Summary
This website will serve as a showcase for my artworks. The audience will be my fellow peers for now. I would like the site to be entertaining, memorable, and not lose the focus on the content.

Content
The final site hopefully will contain photos from my B&W photography class, my final projects from the 3d animation class, 2d animation class. Drawings and sketches from the past couple of years if I could find them. They will be categorized in different sections with short descriptions and dates.

Interaction
I would like to make it easy to navigate and easy to find the informations needed.

Design
I'm most likely to make the site with a comic style.
